After graduating as an industrial engineer, mechanical engineering, from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Andreas Tielmann worked as the head of the research department of a trade association in projects on the professional deployment of skilled industrial-technical workers in large companies and SMEs in various sectors.

After working in the education and public relations department of an employers' association, he moved to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Dillenburg, where he took over as managing director in 1990. In 1998, he also took over the management of the IHK Wetzlar. He was responsible for the merger of the two IHKs.

In addition, he assumed responsibility in organizations and committees with a focus on organizational and Human Resources development, innovation, technology, financing, promotion of small and medium-sized businesses and university development. He was co-initiator of medium-sized technology communities and a dual study program. Today, he applies his competencies at advacon.
